2025 Recap
Do all good things come to an end?

A message from the organising committee:
From April 1 to 3, 2025, Measuring By Light returned to TU Delft for its 7th edition. became one of the most memorable chapters in the conference’s history.
So what made MBL 2025 special?
First and foremost: the community. Over 150 participants from academia, industry, and research institutions gathered in Delft, forming a unique mix of profiles, expertise, and perspectives. We succeeded once again in bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application, a core strength of Measuring By Light.
What also made MBL different was the atmosphere. The conference combined technical depth with an informal, open setting, allowing people to connect quickly, dive into detail, and share ideas without barriers. The stunning Aula Conference Centre helped, as did the social programme: a walking dinner in Madurodam, receptions in the foyer, and a virtual visit to ESA’s ESTEC facility.
A programme built on variety and depth
The programme offered a strong balance between keynote lectures, technical sessions, interactive poster presentations, and live demonstrations. With contributions from ESA, ASML, Rolls Royce, UTS, imec, TU Delft, Universiteit Antwerpen, Ghent University, KU Leuven, and many more, Measuring By Light 2025 brought together leading voices across domains like aerospace, mobility, MEMS, composite materials, and biomedical engineering.
Each session provided room for open exchange. The poster area stayed crowded well into the evening reception, and workshop sessions ended in real discussion. Whether it was a keynote from Martin Hewitson (ESA), the LDV-on-drones presentation by Ben Halkon (UTS), or one of the many student talks, the quality of the presentations was consistent — and high.

Thank you to our sponsors
We were proud to host a diverse and valuable group of sponsors and exhibitors who made this conference possible: Polytec, Konnexxions, Optonor, Fibotec Fiberoptics, Mitutoyo, Spektra, LaVision, UCLouvain, and Ommatidia Lidar. We thank them sincerely for their presence, support, and enthusiasm throughout the event.
Together with our speakers, sponsors, session chairs, organising committee, TU Delft’s EventsOnCampus team, and our collaborators at TU Delft and UAntwerpen, we worked hard to make this edition a success. Measuring By Light 2025 was more than a conference.
It was a moment of connection, collaboration, and community.
Now that MBL 2025 has come to a close, the big question becomes: what’s next?
As an organising team, we haven’t yet decided if or when the next edition will take place. The workload is heavy, but the value of this platform is undeniable. That’s why we’re reaching out: to look for new energy, new ideas, and new organisations who want to help shape the future of Measuring By Light.
