Christophe Caucheteur
Field Of Expertise: Fiber Optics

Christophe Caucheteur is Professor and F.R.S.-FNRS Research Director at the University of Mons) in Belgium. He is the head of the Advanced Photonic Sensors group (www.umons-aps.be). His team currently gathers 5 PhD students, 1 postdoc and 2 senior researchers. His group  studies and develops physical, mechanical and (bio)chemical fibre sensors based on fibre Bragg gratings.

He has been the recipient of an ERC Starting Independent Researcher Grant whose main objective was to develop minimally-invasive optical fibre immunosensors for in situ cancer diagnosis. He has also ensured the scientific supervision of several applied projects in the field of physical and (bio)chemical sensing with fibre Bragg gratings for a total amount of ~6 M€. Based on this background, he has co-founded the spin-off company B-SENS (www.b-sens.be) in June 2016 and serve now as a scientific expert for the company.

Up to now, his scientific production has led to 1 full book, 10 book chapters, 155 papers in international journals, more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed international conferences, 2 patents and 4 patent applications pending. According to Google Scholar, his h-index is 53. According to the last Stanford University ranking, I am among the top 2 % most cited and most influenced scientists worldwide in the optoelectronics and photonics domain.
