Jochen Schell
Field Of Expertise: Applications of Laser Doppler Vibrometry

Jochen Schell has 20 years of experience as an applications engineer in the field of Laser Doppler Vibrometry.

He received his diploma in Physics from the University of Karlsruhe in 1995, including a Diploma Thesis on guided nonlinear optics at the INPG in Grenoble. In 2000, he obtained his PhD in Physics, from the university of Strasbourg, again on the topic of nonlinear optics. He joined Agilent from 2000-2003, working as a technical consultant for the test of fiber optical amplifiers. In 2003, he started working at Polytec GmbH in Waldbronn as an applications engineer for Laser Doppler Vibrometry. In 2007 he became head of the applications department.

Jochen has seen a variety of different applications of Laser Vibrometers, ranging from modal testing or measurement of brake squeal in the automotive area to measurement of wave propagation for structural health monitoring or for surface Haptics and from strain measurements on turbine blades, the visualization of sound fields to tests of radiofrequency MEMS.
