Tristan Putzeys
Field Of Expertise: Biomedical

Tristan Putzeys received his masters and PhD degree in physics from the KU Leuven, the Catholic University of Leuven, in 2011 and 2015 respectively. In 2016 he joined the TU/e, the Eindhoven University of Technology, as a postdoctoral researcher working on polymers for soft robotics. In 2017 he re-joined the KU Leuven as postdoctoral researcher at the department of neurosciences working on interferometry for fluid pressure measurements. In 2018 he became a FWO interdisciplinary postdoctoral researcher combining physics and medicine at the laboratory for experimental oto-rhino-laryngology and the laboratory for soft matter and biophysics. Since 2021 he is a postdoctoral researcher in an interdisciplinary network program with a focus on inner ear diagnostics.

Current research themes involve using dielectric spectroscopy in combination with cochlear implants to probe the dielectric properties of soft tissue in the inner ear, the use of photo- and electropolymerizable materials as functional coatings for biosensors, and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) vibrometry for visualizing pressure waves in humane and animal structures.

Abstract: 'Recording speech in the human cochlea using Optical Coherence Tomography'
