Stefan Janssen obtained his MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2021. His master’s thesis focused on improving the noise insulation of vibro-acoustic metamaterial panels through multi-resonant design. After a period of working as a project engineer at DAF Trucks in Eindhoven, he returned to KU Leuven to continue his research and pursue a PhD within the Mecha(tro)nic System Dynamics (LMSD) research group. His PhD focuses on the development of adaptive metamaterials for improved noise and vibration reduction, with a complementary focus on manufacturing these structures using injection molding. Stefan is also a member of Flanders Make, the strategic research center for the manufacturing industry in Flanders.
In this presentation, he will provide an overview of the experimental validation of two metamaterial panels using laser Doppler vibrometry conducted at KU Leuven.
The unique multidisciplinary conference where industry and academics come together to discuss applications and solutions of optical measurement techniques.
