Roel studied physics at Leiden University, obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in 2015 and Master’s in 2018, with internships at the University of Oxford and the Leiden University Medical Center. For his PhD, he worked at NWO-I institute AMOLF in Amsterdam and the Eindhoven University of Technology, focusing on the interaction between light and mechanical vibration in silicon nanophotonic structures. He defended his thesis in 2023. After this he joined the Radboud University Nijmegen as a postdoc to study scanning tunneling microscopy-induced luminescence, a field with both familiar nanophotonics from his PhD as well as new scanning probe techniques.
The unique multidisciplinary conference where industry and academics come together to discuss applications and solutions of optical measurement techniques.
