Pieter Livens is a postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Bio- & Medical Physics (BIMEF). His research focuses on better understanding the mechanics of the eardrum and ossicles. In this way, he aims to develop better techniques to help people with hearing damage hear again. One area of expertise is optical measurement techniques. DIC, OCT, and LDV, which he uses to study the vibration response of our eardrum and middle ear ossicles. Another research area are numerical methods such as FEM and the VFM, via which the material properties and behavior of the middle ear is further investigated.
The unique multidisciplinary conference where industry and academics come together to discuss applications and solutions of optical measurement techniques.
