Chantal van Tour
Field Of Expertise: Fiber Optics

Received her MSc-degree with honours in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology in 2016. During her bachelor and master studies, she carried out several research projects concerning ultra-stable optical frequency transfer. In 2016 she joined the SuperGPS project as a full-time R&D engineer at OPNT BV. Her research mainly focused on increasing the accuracy and stability of time and frequency transfer over (fiber-optic) networks. In 2019 she left OPNT, and accepted a new position at the Hague University in Delft, as a lecturer in physics. She teaches mainly photonics courses, such as optics and fiber optic sensing. Since august 2024 she joined the lectorate photonics at the Hague University for one day per week where she works on fiber optic sensing technologies.

Abstract: 'Shape sensing of a catheter using a single optical fiber'
